On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Landmark University hosted a distinguished delegation led by Professor H-T Kim from the Department of Biosystems Engineering at Gyeongsang National University (GNU), Jinju, South Korea, and the Institute of Smart Agriculture. The purpose of the courtesy visit was to initiate dialogue on collaborative opportunities in the fields of Smart Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering.
The visit was primarily aimed at engaging Landmark University management and the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering to explore potential areas for collaboration, including joint research projects, academic staff and student exchange programs, knowledge and technology transfer, and the advancement of Smart Agriculture practices.
Professor H-T Kim delivered a thorough PowerPoint presentation that offered insights into the ongoing innovative research and technological advancements at GNU. Key components of the presentation included: Smart Farm Technologies, Smart Space Sensing Laboratory, Greenhouse Strawberry Production Techniques, Space Research Initiatives, and Advancements in Space Farming.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Ajanaku, in his welcome remarks, expressed appreciation for the visit and the potential it represents. He reiterated Landmark University's commitment to global partnerships and stated that the University is open to staff and student exchanges as well as collaborative research initiatives. Professor Ajanaku further recommended drafting and signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise the collaboration.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Ojediran, raised a pertinent question regarding the success rate of space farming in Korea. Professor Kim responded positively, emphasising the impressive progress and outcomes of such initiatives in South Korea.
The visit by Professor H-T Kim and his team signifies a meaningful step toward strengthening international academic partnerships. It aligns with Landmark University’s vision of becoming a leading world-class institution through innovative research, academic excellence, and global collaboration.
The interaction marks the beginning of what is hoped to be a productive and long-term partnership between Landmark University and Gyeongsang National University in advancing the frontiers of Smart Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering.
